Aditya Narayan surprises the lil Champs favourite Jayas Kumar at his birthday bash.

India’s First Children News Service’s Grand Launch in Mumbai

The Scrappy News Service was launched on social video platform YouTube. Its grand launch in Mumbai had many noted guests and celebrities attend the event.

The launch witnessed the presence of actor/ producer Dia Mirza and actor/producer Jackky Bhagnani who were seen interacting with the kids from the Scrappy News Service at the launch.

The Scrappy newsrooms built completely out of scrap cater to the Children’s Scrappy News Service, a makeshift news service and news-talk-game show run by kids for kids, taking on India’s biggest problems and solving them with design-thinking and scrappy skills. Among the newsrooms set up in Mumbai, Bengaluru and across 14 places in Bihar, a list of innovative and interesting activities was planned for the newsrooms in Mumbai.

Says 10-year-old child anchor Dheeraj, “We want to make sure adults sit up and take note of the issues we are addressing and begin to act on the same.”

The Mumbai newsroom has been set up at the scenic Worli Fishing village which the Scrappy team feels is the real Mumbai – what with the sea as the backdrop and the skyscrapers adjacent and of course, the fishing boats bobbing in the water. Along with our scrappy kids we will have Children and Musical Band from Akanksha Foundation, Yuwa Football Team, Mumbai Dabbawala’s, An performance by Dance Out of Poverty Kids and others speaking about the issue ‘No place to play’.

Directed by the award winning director of the short film Bypass, Amit Kumar, Monsoon Shootout stars Nawazuddin Siddique and Vijay Verma in the lead roles. The teaser intercuts between shots of crime and action scenes, giving us the peek into what the film is about. With a gripping line – which says “Ganghor toofani baarish se khatarnak Kya ho sakta hai… Bin mausam barsaat”, the teaser is every bit intense to bring out the thrill element of the film.

After two weeks of celebrations and good cinema showcased, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, 2017 concluded.  It began on 10th of August amidst great fanfare celebrating Diversity as the theme for the year, the festival had acclaimed Lipstick Under My Burkha as the opening film and closed with the critically acclaimed romance drama, Shab.
The film stars versatile actress Raveena Tandon and newcomer Ashish Bisht along with Sanjay Suri, Simon Frenay amongst others. Shab is directed by seasoned director Onir and produced by Sanjay Suri and Onir.

Shab is a story about broken people on the lookout for a real connection that can lead to happiness. But they look for it in the wrong places. FICCI FRAMES-2017 – Lack of cinema screens, piracy, high ticket prices at multiplexes & new movies on TV reducing the number of footfalls in cinemas houses

Is Bollywood in trouble? Will Hollywood and Regional take over? Is Indian Cinema in any kind of trouble? 

Piracy, high pricing of tickets at multiplexes. lack of cinema screens and new movies being broadcasted on television three months after release have reduced the number of footfalls in the cinemas considerably and was making it difficult to raise the market share.

However, there is good news yet !  The emergence of digital platforms has opened new vistas for monetization for movies. 

Even though regional cinema is being aggressively promoted by state governments by way of various sops, Bollywood  can benefit if we could raise the TV viewing window of new movies to six months instead of the current three months.   Lack of screens in the country and high price of tickets coupled with the fact the audience for Hollywood movies was increasing and giving a tough competition to Hindi cinema.   Models were being worked upon to maintain a balance.    

The solution is simple, we need a strong trade bodies to combat piracy and with the help of committed and passionate producers and stakeholders to push the agenda,  Piracy can be reduced by the cause being championed by effective global leaders who could take the fight ahead.   

Also if all types of cinemas are marketed and given due visibility as is the case with big budgeted films, the audience who are alienated by multiplies as they were removing a certain type of cinema for which there was an audience base, we will experience more footfalls in the theatre.

The cause is initiated by MonishChandan, a famous blogger from Mumbai who deeply supports the cause and feels the need to give back to the society in a constructive way. This event aims to help cancer patients and amplifies understanding that one out of ten households has a cancer victim or a survivor. Due to the fast paced & changing lifestyles, there is an ever increasing case of cancer in our society.

To take this initiative forward, an event was organized on 3rd December at Punjab Grill, Andheri West. A panel discussion was held to understand about cancer & how it is affecting our lives.

Our Emcee for the day, Samaira Wallani kept the audience enthralled & made the cancer surviving kids dance & sing during the event.

The panel discussion was led by Maria Vasudevan- Clinical Hypnotherapist, Shiraz Siddique- Cancer Survivor, Ankeet Dave- Executive Director – Access Life Foundation  & Ms. Ritu Gorai – CCO of JAMMS a popular Moms group in Mumbai and moderated by Sayanti Banerjee.

Monish Chandan, Campaign head says “My initiative is to raise funds, educate & research for Cancer & spread the awareness.  If you believe it we can do it, nothing is impossible. While Shiraz Siddique , Cancer Survivor says ““We feel that cancer is economically, emotionally, physically debilitating disease. It takes entire team of people with the patient to fight the disease. It is important to have such groups and events that can raise funds for pre-post-during the treatment and provide basic amenities like food, clothing and shelter to outstation cancer patients. Such patients find it difficult to find proper places to stay and also have hygienically cooked healthy food to eat due to monetary problems. Other important aspect is that sharing of experience of cancer treatments helps others to remove fear from heart and fight the disease better as well as recover fast.”

Ritu Gorai, CCO of JAMMS says “JAMMs network is a multi award winning support group for mothers in Mumbai… We connect online, meet offline and engage in various charity interventions. NSN was a great initiative and we were happy to associate with this noble cause to create more awareness about cancer”

The panel discussion was followed by live music performance by talented duo performers Vilas Nikam and Ashutosh Virendra from Shankar Mahadevan Academy and closing act by classical fusion dancer Aavinash Payal & famous singer Siddharth Sharma. There was a special performance by Singer Ashar Anis khan who enthralled the audience with his impeccable voice and style.

Kaveta Chaudhry directs Baba Ramdev in Yog Yatra. To air on Sony TV 1st, May

There is a buzz around the soon to release  ‘ YOG YATRA ‘, a biopic on the life of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and his close friend Acharya Balkrishna.  In this film you will find Baba Ramdev donning the actor’s garb shooting, rehearsals, riding the bike enacting his life journey of before being acknowledged as the Yoga Guru and becoming a global icon.

The promo has already garnered great excitement and curiosity among the business and film industry for the nature of its biopic. It is a 90-minutes film, but very meticulously showcases the life and evolution of Baba Ramdev and how he aspires to transform the life of people with yoga and ayurveda.

Kaveta spent months researching for the film and even while shooting, it was a revelation and rewriting of the scripts to bring to life the real episodes which created the legends.

Sanjana Kapoor & brother Kunal Kapoor judge The International Circus Festival at Rambo Circus !

The whole circus camp at Rambo was alive with a flurry of activities, their favourite mentors from the Kapoor family were to visit to judge the new season of the International Circus Festival.

Most of the artists who double up as operations in-charge were busy setting things in order at the camp right until the bell rang for the show to begin. Then it’s a quick change into the costume and …. action!

Sujit Dilip, owner and manager at Rambo Circus escorted the guests of honour Sanjana Kapoor and Kunal Kapoor to the judges table and the show began.

Awed and enraptured by some very interesting acts on display this season, Sanjana and Kunal cheered every acts, boosting the morale of the humbled artists and adding fervor to the crowd.

Today, the growing popularity of Rambo Circus around the world and its talked about initiatives has made it a sought after destination for circus artists and enthusiasts to visit. This season, Rambo has artists from Azerbaijan, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Colombia besides Nepal and India.

Noted actor Shashi Kapoor visits Rambo’s International Circus Festival

Noted Actor Shashi Kapoor made a rare appearance to see the special show of Rambo Circus and its troupe of international artists in the indoor theatre of Prithivi. Davron Majidov, who is participating in the International Circus Festival from Russia, clearly was awed by the Kapoors and went up to Shashi Kapoor to take his blessings. “ I have been a fan of Mr Raj Kapoor who is very respected back in Russia, so it’s a great honour for me to perform today in front of the Late Raj Kapoor’s family. I am humbled ” said the 19 year old boy.

The entire troupe of Rambo Circus artists crowded around Shashi Kapoor delighted to see him doing well. Shashi Kapoor’s son Kunal and grandson Zahan were also present with Sujit Dilip, owner of Rambo Circus. Each one of the Rambo Circus family went up to Shashi Kapoor for his blessings and being photographed with him. Shashi Kapoorji was happy to indulge and sat through the entire performance.

The show at Prithivi Theatre was a super hit and ran to packed houses.

Rajeev was all excited, “Working with Veena Mallik and Director Hemant has been a good experience. Veena is a gifted actress and the director Hemant is very talented and focussed and knows exactly what he wants from his actors ” As far as the film is concerned, Rajeev is super excited to have been part of this project which has taught him to remain calm even in adverse circumstances since shooting a 3D consumes 3 times more time at per average. “The story/ script is what compelled me to do the film.and it was a blessing in disguise for him, the thriller will keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Essentially, a horror film in a 3D format,is the next in concept, audience will be intrigued to watch.”

Rajeev has many more tv serials and films to his credit. He has done cameos – been a significant part of International films like ”Pride”, directed by a Japanese film (Dir Yuko Ito), a french film, Butterfly from the East (International film fest entry), to name a few. The event which took place at the Grover Zampa Vineyards in Nashik on 27th January, 2013, became an instant hit with guests, with an array of fun activities.All the wine connoisseurs exchanged great conversations over wine. The stomping event was graced by some eminent personalities who were seen enjoying their affair with this ecstatic beverage!
